Welcome back to The Buccaneer’s sports column, “Breakfast with a Buc.” Each week, over a bagel breakfast, we’ll be chatting with an RBR student-athlete who is committed to play a sport at the college level.
This week, we sat down with RBR soccer player Chris Fuentes.
Name: Chris Fuentes
Sport in College: Soccer
College: William Paterson University (Wayne, NJ)
Buc to: Pioneer
What to follow*: @WPUSoccer
In five years, I’ll: hopefully still playing soccer and doing something with criminal justice
Bagel Order: Sausage, egg and cheese on a plain
EB: Why William Paterson?
CF: It was a great program, and I’ve heard good stuff about the school. I have a friend going there, and I fell in love with the school when I saw it. It’s a great atmosphere and they’re actually just building a new soccer field.
EB: What has RBR soccer taught you?
CF: One thing I’ve learned from RBR is that sports here are just family and it’s a lot more than just on the field. When we lose, people are still there and when we win, people are still there, and that means a lot.
EB: What’s your favorite RBR soccer memory?
CF: My sophomore year, we had a great time and we went to the state finals for the first time in school history. That meant a lot to me, and I actually still keep in touch with all of those guys. My older brother was on that team, so that’s special.
